Death in Paradise
|
| | | Annotation: This brooding mystery, the source of a 2006 TV movie starring Tom Selleck, is the third in a series that centers on recovering alcoholic Jesse Stone, a former LAPD detective who now serves as the sheriff of the coastal town of Paradise, Massachusetts. When a girl's body is discovered by Jesse's softball teammates in the lake adjacent to the field where they play, the investigation leads Jesse to Boston. Closer to home, Jesse also looks into a case of domestic abuse.
| PraiseNew York Times Book Review "Jesse is still unpredictable and a little scary. Let's trust Parker to keep him on the edge." - Marilyn Stasio 10/14/2001"Melancholy shadows this third, beautifully wrought Jesse Stone mystery; rarely if ever has Parker's fiction conveyed with such solemn intensity the challenge of living a good life in a world of sin....[T]he book's ultimate pleasure lies in the words, suffused with a tough compassion won only through years of living, presented in prose whose impeccability speaks of decades of careful writing."
