Apparently abetted by someone named Lord Kenjamin (whose identity is also enigmatic), Hopkins on MUSIC IS MY MEDICINE takes his left-field fusion of hip-hop, psych, jazz, and pop and runs it through a filter of classic dub and roots reggae, coming up with a fun, varied, and thoroughly winning sonic landscape. MUSIC IS MY MEDICINE sounds at times like Augustus Pablo jamming with Tortoise, a prospect that should be recommendation enough for forward-thinking groove-lovers everywhere. |
